The first-ever edition of MLM launches in less than one hour. Have fun! Eat food! Win prizes! Come as a spectator or try to compete. Free admission, but you should probably buy some food from Borealis.
Know movies? Win prizes (and have fun, eat food, and get out of the house for a while). RSVP here: https://www.facebook.com/events/567893503265422/?ref=22
You already know we're friendlier than a vending machine or web site :), but the Portland Buy Local Campaign offers these additional reasons you may not be aware of for supporting us and other local businesses over the big-box, multinational mega-providers:
1) Keep More Dollars in Portland's Economy
For every $100 you spend at a locally owned business, $45 stays in our local economy, creating jobs and expanding the tax base. For every $100 spent at a national chain or franchise store, only $14 remains in the community.
2) Reduced Pollution/Resource Waste
By choosing neighborhood businesses, land is conserved, sprawl is limited, and the amount of driving and air pollution involved in running errands is reduced.
3) Conserve Tax Dollars
Studies show that local business districts require less public infrastructure and make more efficient use of city services than sprawling big box stores and shopping centers.
4) Create More Choices
Independent businesses offer a more diverse array of products and services, chosen to meet our needs, not a national sales plan.
5) Endorse Portland's Individuality
One-of a kind businesses are an integral part of what makes Portland a singular city and great place to live. At Jet Video, we strive to give back to the community and contribute to keeping Deering Center interesting wherever possible with events and giveaways -- with more to come in 2014!
All titles from our Action and Suspense sections rent for $1 each (for five nights -- due Thursday).

Friend and neighbor Jonathan Nolan passed away yesterday. His big personality will no doubt leave a void in his loved ones' hearts, and many of us in Deering Center (and at Jet Video) will miss him. We extend our deepest condolences to his wife, Eliza, and his children, Oliver, Robert, and Sophia.
Rent new releases on DVD for as little as $.50/day when you use our discounted pre-payment plan (Jet Bucks), and rent older movies (which Redbox usually doesn't have at all) for as little as $.15/day -- plus you get our friendly, personalized service and free disc resurfacing for scratch-free rentals. Call for details! 207-773-9968

MLM's creators say:
If you love to watch movies, talk about movies, or just know a bunch of stuff about movies, then we love you! Join us for movie games, conversation, food, fun and PRIZES. Enjoy “pizza and pitcher” specials, a sandwich, or a cup of coffee.
Today, Blockbuster Video officially closed completely, and a reporter from the local CBS affiliate stopped by the store to ask some questions about how Jet has been faring against the mega-providers like Netflix and Redbox. The answer, in a nutshell: we're doing well. We've been having a very good year, and it's because of your support! Here's the link:
